DR-1801
Re: DR-1801
The hardware of the DR-1801 is completely different from that of the first generation DM-1801, so the GD77 firmware cannot be rewritten。
Re: DR-1801
There are a lot of posts about it, why don't you check first, before you open a new thread??
Re: DR-1801
I don't think so. When 2022 Dm-1801 came out, there was confusion because of the different chipset and other specs. so opengd77 could not be installed, but name of the station was the same. Sellers had lots of negative responses back, so they have decided to mark dm-1801 2022 edition as DR-1801. We already have posts about incompatibility of this radio.
Re: DR-1801
OK.
So this is the replacement for the DM-1801 renamed
I don't think anyone else has posted this information to the forum

Re: DR-1801
this info is not confirmed, but if you check ebay, aliexpress etc. you can now find only DR, so they avoid confusion and don't need to return money back i believe
Re: DR-1801
I'm not sure they're identical. I suppose someone would need to get one to check though.
Reason I say this:
- https://rugbyradiosuk.com/collections/d ... -dmr-radio
- https://rugbyradiosuk.com/collections/d ... -tier1-dmr
Rugby Radios here in the UK claim to sell both. Looking at the URL, maybe the difference is GPS vs No GPS?

Re: DR-1801
this radio uses the Auctus A6 chip, it is used in a variety of low cost DMR HT besides Baofeng.
A ham in the United States dove pretty deep in another radio using the A6.
Here is a good collection of info on the A6

If anyone wants to port to this radio the source code for the GD77 firmware is fully available on this site.
But as @jhart99 says in his articles, there is no information about how to control the RF / Baseband of this module, so it would be incredibly difficult to write firmware for this module.
