Thanks guy's. I'm currently on the mail list for the GD77 when Radioddity have them back in stock, so I thought I would buy a DM1801 to see if I can get it to work on Open GD77. I would've just bought the GD77 first up but I can't find any for sale except rip off sales for twice the price.
I want to make a hotspot using the DM1801 but it looks like I can't. I have found a board for a Raspberry PI and the seller has a cord for the Yaesu FT7900 mobile. So I'll likely go down that path.

Thanks again guys and 73's.

The New DM1801 radios which seem to have been released 1 or 2 weeeks ago are completely different hardware, and are not supported.
See the DM1801 thread

What you are hearing is the squelch tail at the end of a transmission. That is intentional and quite normal.

Whilst it might be possible to reduce the squelch tail it would degrade the radios performance with weak signals.

Your radio with the original firmware probably has a very hard squelch setting.

Hi,
We've talked about it before, and many people have indicated this topic!
I understand the position.
But in many cases it is confusing.
Especially when there is a lot of silence around you.
So at night. But also during the day.
Or it bothers the family member.
Not to mention with earphones

If it could be switched between normal and sensitive. That would mean a lot.

Thank you for everything again!

Hi Zsolt!
You can try to minimize the squelch tail by tightening the squelch. This is probably the reason, why the original firmware has a lower / shorter tail. You can control the "Normal" and "Sensitive" states by the fine squelch tuning according your need.
However, there can be also another reason: If the channel is programmed to open on a CTCSS/DCS code, OpenGD-77 doesn't recognize the marker, which may be present on the end of the transmission to tell the receiver to close the channel. It perfectly cancels the squelch tails. The official firmware does this (sends it and can evaluate it and act accordingly), while OpenGD-77 unfortunatly doesn't do anything of it.
I think it's one of the features which should be put to the wishlist for OpenGD-77. However, it may requeire really detailed programming knowledge how to control the chipset, and the available documentation is not comprehensive enough so maybe it's not possible to do it for now as the developers don't know the necessary programming details.
With regards / 73

The sensitivity of the noise barrier to a fluctuating carrier and the complete cessation of the carrier are likely to be related.
But still completely different events.
If the two events are not sufficiently separated, there will be a sound interruption and tail noise.

Unfortunately, this is also present in FM mode.

Have a nice day everyone.

Hi all,

I do a lot of monitoring using 2 Radioddity gD-77s and a Baofeng RD-5R,
I also find the squelch tail to harsh/long, which can be very tiring on the ears, especially when the tx'ed audio is low or using it on an allstar hotspot.

On some other radios I have noticed the squelch has a setting of "Tight or Normal" which works very well and would possibly solve the problem.
I wonder if it would be possible to add this feature to the menu section, as this would then please everyone.

Just an idea....

Apart from that the updated software is great, keep up the good work.
Cheers all
Dave.
