Hello! I noticed that loading this beta on my DM1801 kills the battery in about 4 hours.
The ECO setting i use is 4. The radio becomes warm just sitting monitoring a DMR channel.
The radio works fine on the latest 02-28-2022 release.

I can't replicate this bug on my 1801 or 77

yes, I can't replicate it either unless i'm on RM HAM TG700 . I believe that they send all sort of strange stuff on that timeslot (TS1) so i am guessing the opengd77 code does not like something it receives. This problem does not seem to happen all the time as well. This is a tough one, and it also happens on the latest released 02/28 version as well.
Let me get more information.
Thanks.

Can anyone explain what the Rx AGC levels in decibels mean?
How to choose the right Rx AGC level in decibels?

73,
Victor, ER1CW.
Because the audio on the GD77 on DMR has always been lower than necessary, when the AGC feature was created, it was possible to also include an option to also increase the overall audio output level.

Selecting 0dB will actually give roughly the same audio volume level, for DMR audio which is at average levels.

Selecting higher gain values will make the audio louder, but under some conditions can cause clipping

During testing , a wide range of DMR audio levels were observed , with the very loud audio often being caused by traffic from non DMR networks
Is it possible that the function equalizes the sound so that it is always at the same selected level?
For example, if we are at level "1", all would be heard with the same strength and so on...?

I thought this function AGC (automatic gain control) should precisely standardize the levels.
It's so inconvenient to listen and constantly play volume since one is too strong/weak compared to the other.

Wasn't it possible to standardize everything the sound and add the "boost" function when the selected volume level requires an increase in volume relative to others (one of the interlocutors) or just in connection with the desired volume level which could possibly lead to distortion of one or all of the signals.

I do not know if I'm clear?

Hi! Roger,
just an update on the battery draining problem.
As it turns out it only happened on one of my dm1801. The VHF section of the radio stopped working shortly after.
When i investigated the problem I found a hole in the VHF PA, So I believe that the final transistor was about to fail , and caused the large power drain.
The firmware is working great on my other radios, and I have now taken the time to tune them all to a maximum of 5W just in case the excessive power was the cause of the PA failure. (without tuning these radios put out 6.5W in most cases).
Thanks.
Luca

Thanks for the update.

BTW. I think the PA FET in the GD77 is rated at 6W, but this would require adequate cooling.

On 145MHz some GD77 output 7.5W or more, however on UHF they won't produce more than 5.5W

In theory on DMR, because of the 50% duty cycle, heating of the PA FET should not be a problem, even using maximum PA drive, but there may be other factors which probably mean its better to not overdrive the PA
