Public Beta (2021 12 13)

Post by VK3KYY » Sun Dec 12, 2021 9:01 pm

New public beta.

We are still trying to find the cause of the "Settings update" / reboot problem, which seems to only affect less than 1% of radios.

This version has a number of changes, intended overcome this problem, but because I can't reproduce the bug on any of my radios, despite running 5 radios constantly, its impossible to determine the precise cause of the problem.

This version also has 2 other changes, both to the Last Heard screen

1. The TimeSlot number is displayed on the Last Heard details screen (accesses by holding SK2 down whist on the Last Heard screen).
The TS number only displyed for duplex repeaters and hotspots, as simplex transmissions and simplex hotspots do not send TS number data as part of the transmission.
2. For times greater than 12 hours the time is now displayed in hours rather than minutes.

There have not been any changes to CPS or voice prompts

Firmware can be downloaded from here

https://www.opengd77.com/downloads/Publ ... /firmware/

Edit.

I have also updated the CPS to add a missing translation for for the "Write to radio" button on the DMR ID screen

Loaded firmware on the one radio I have that is in the 1% group. Radio rebooted once after 1/2 hour and then again another 1/2 hour later.
When it did reboot it at least went back to the talk group i was listening too rather than dumping me into vfo mode.
Radio has been running for hours now and hasn't rebooted since.

Loving the last heard update.

Thanks for all the hard work that goes into this!

The reboot problem you are having is not likely to be the same one that we have been trying to fix.

People who had been experiening the "Settings Update" problem, no longer get that problem, and instead the RSSI stops working, and then the radio is also unable to transmit or to change frequency.

We also had a report of what looked like RSSI bug, but which happened when the radio was turned on after have been suspended (not fully powered down), but this is obviously not the bug you are seeing.

Your problem sounds more like the DMR ID database problem.

Did you update your CPS to the latest version and update your DMR ID database?
Because that was the cause of a separate reboot bug, which required a fix to the CPS and the radio firmware.

Of course you could have a completely separate bug which is not currently on our radar.

Ok sorry about that, wasn't sure what all the issues were with the rebooting.
I'm running the latest CPS and I've pulled in the DMR ids.
This is only happening on one of my GD77, the others are great so must just be something with this one radio.
Hasn't done it since and its no issue for me.

It's difficult or us to know whats causing these problems if it does not go wrong for us.
I have 3 GD77's , 1 DM1801 and 1 RD5R, all running constantly

Various other beta testers have also been using their radios a lot, but have not experienced quite what you are seeing.

You could try reading the codeplug from one of your radios that works OK, and put it on the radio which is failing.
It would also be worth while doing a restings reset, i.e Turn your radio on whilst holding the Blue button (SK2), in case something in the settings is causing the problem.

Can you join Chinese? Please, I'm Chinese. My English is not good and I'm not very proficient
If you're asking to have Chinese support in the firmware, as it was answered multiple times, it's not possible as Chinese has too much glyphs, and we are very limited (255, and some cannot be reassigned).

Cheers.

Install the Chinese voice prompts, the radio will then speak in Chinese, even if the text is English or any other language.
