it also happened to me only once time on the gd77.

My DM5r happened the same thing, it restarted twice the first time it went back to the original settings and the second it just restarted without losing the settings.Sorry for the bad english, i used google translator.
Congratulations on the great work 73

* Time calibration option has been removed, because it is now longer needed.
Very impressive! My GD77 is now keeping accurate time while in suspend more. With the time calibration option in the previous beta builds I could get it close but it still drifted.

I'm curious, how was this accomplished?

We did not make any specific changes to increase the clock accuracy. It seems to be a result of some other changes to the code to reduce the load on the CPU

However, I have received reports of the radio shutting down whilst in Suspend mode in this new version, so we will need to release another beta soon which rolls back some of the changes in an attempt to stop the crashing

Hi Roger,
I've been testing my gd77 for a couple of days, it rebooted three times but wasn't in suspend mode,it was in normal mode.

FYI

I have received reports of the firmware rebooting whilst the radio was in suspend mode.

This causes the radio go fully off and time to be reset.

We have been struggling to fix random reboots in the firmware for several weeks, but thiught we had discovered what was causing the problem, and had fixed it.

However it looks like the problem still exists when the radio is in suspend mode. :-(

Thanks

We have seen this problem during private beta testing, but thought we had now fixed it

I will need to do another beta today with a possible fix

I've made a new public beta, with some changes which hopefully will fix the rebooting problem

see

https://www.opengd77.com/downloads/Publ ... /firmware/

If you radio was rebooting and you use Eco 5, please try Eco 4 or lower values.

Note.
I did not make any changes to when the radio is in suspend mode, so reboots during suspend won't be fixed.

* 16M byte Flash memory is now supported for anyone who wants to modify their hardware by removing the 1Mb chip and fitting a 16Mb chip. (F1RMB has made this modification to his radio)
May I ask what flash memory chip F1RMB used in his GD-77 and what has to be done to get the radio back up and running afterwards?

Thanks for your continued support of this firmware!

You need to:
* first make a backup of the current flash,
* swap the chips,
* power on the transceiver, which will display a "CAL DATA ERROR",
* restore that backup using the CPS

Cheers.

I'm not sure what's going on, but I'm unable to get the CPS to work today. I am not sure if it's because I updated the CPS to match the latest beta or what, is there any way to debug or look at logs or anything?

Machine is WIndows 7 (just have it around for ham radio stuff that requires Windows), used it for many years for this purpose. Device Manager shows OpenGD77 on com9, I've rebooted, restarted the CPS a few times, etc, made sure I'm using the latest CPS, E2021.11.01.01. Just says "Comm port not available" when I try to read from the radio.

Just to make sure, I downloaded the com port zip and manually installed, rebooted again, still no joy.

Another update; I can't download the codeplug from qdmr either. My Anytone 878 works on the same cable. Communication issue on the new firmware?

Final edit! The Nov 10 build I can read/write to the radio, but Nov 12 (the latest) I cannot. I have a GD77. I'll watch to see if there's any more info you need or build to test, always happy to help.

Hi Roger,
OK thank you.
Now I just installed the beta firmware of today 12th November. I have set echo level 3. I keep the radio in test. I'll let you know if it still reboots.
thank you again. Have a nice day.
