OpenGD77

Have installed latest OpenGD77 CPS on a Windows 10 machine. The new driver appeared to install OK at this point.

I can read the codeplug from the radio (which has not yet been reflashed to OpenGD77 firmware) from the Program Menu. So presumably the cable is working OK.

However, when trying to back up EEPROM from the Extras/OpenGD77 support Menu no COM Port is shown and I get the undernoted crash if I try to select the empty box. I can't read the Codeplug from this menu either.

Looking at the COM Ports in Device Manager (Showing Hidden Devices), there are 4 entries:

Opticon USB Code Reader(1D) (COM3)
Opticon USB Code Reader(1D) (COM4)
USB-SERIAL CH340(COM5)
USB-SERIAL CH340(COM7)

Where do I go from here?

The Com port is part of the openGD77 firmware. So it won’t be available if you have not updated the firmware.

I have been using the OpenGD77 CPS on my windows 10 laptop and it works fine. I am using the latest CPS version.

Recently I have loaded the latest CPS into my windows 10 (latest update) desktop computer and it seems that the com port driver installs but when I plug the Radioddity GD77 into any usb port on the desktop computer I get 'Driver Error' and the com port is not recognised by the CPS. i am wondering if windows is blocking the driver install! I have tried to reinstall the com port driver many times and the problem stays.
Any ideas please.

I have found the problem. Windows did something in the last update and killed something. I restored the computer back a week and all good again.
