Export to CSV - tab or space before frequencies

Post by M0JZX » Sat Sep 02, 2023 2:19 pm

I've recently updated the CPS (R2023.08.18.01) , so I don't know if this is a new bug.

The CSV Channels exported file has a space/tab ahead of the Rx Frequency and Tx Frequency entry.

I'm not sure if this is causing issues when it's re-imported into the CPS.

Could someone else give it a try and confirm,

Thanks

It's not an issue, it's the format of these fields.

Thanks.

It makes it a bit more difficult to edit the channels in a spreadsheet program and export the values as CSV if a leading space or tab is required.

The tab is added when exporting from the CPS to force the spreadsheet program to read the value as a series of characters and not try to interpret it as a number. This prevents the values being truncated in the spreadsheet. For example 145.5000 will display with all the digits instead of being truncated to 145.5

This is not so important with frequencies, it just keeps them looking neater. It is however important with things like channel names which could start with numeric characters.

The tab is not a requirement for import back into the CPS. If it is present it is ignored anyway. You can happily enter (or let the spreadsheet calculate) frequency's without worrying about it.

Yes, that would be OK.
