No comm port to select in GD77 CPS

Post by G4WXN » Tue Dec 28, 2021 5:48 pm

New to GD77. I have a Pofung DM5R with the standard software I have no problem reading and writing the rig.
With the GD77 CPS it simply refuses to talk to the rig.
I have tried removing and reinstalling the software, and drivers to no avail.

When requested to select the comm port, there is nothing there to select.

Windows 7
Open GD77 CPS E2021.09.14.01

Have you followed the instructions to install the OpenGD77 firmware on your DM-5R?

Thanks for the reply.

The problem is no communication between the software and the rig, without that communication the firmware cannot be loaded.

As previously mentioned the supplied software connects fine.

Does your DM-5R (Tier2) is in bootloader mode at this point ?

Cheers.

Yes it is.

My suspicion is that the drivers for the original version and the GD77CPS are clashing somehow.

In your device manager, that HID device should have Hardware IDs defined to:
HID\VID_15A2&PID_0073

Thanks for the reply.

Firstly I do not see that item in the device manager, however I do see listed an
HID compliant device
which when I turn the rig off goes away, and turn rig back on it reappears.
However if I put the rig into bootloader mode, I do not see the
HID compliant device

Just trying a fresh install on another machine.

Not sure if this will help.

Completely fresh windows 7 with SP1.

Install OpemGD77CPS

when asked if I want to install the drivers I make sure the box is ticked.

the install ends, and I get the following

I still get the same problem with the software, in that there is no comm port listed to select

The CPS won't work until you have your radio running the OpenGD77 firmware.
About the HID, in bootloader mode it HAS to be listed on the "HID compliant device" node. Maybe you can try removing all the Baofeng software you have installed.

It's a fresh windows install, Win 7 and SP1 nothing else.

This is catch 22, I can't get the GD77 firmware onto the rig without the software and the software won't run without the firmware being installed.
