OpenGD77

I know I'm doing something wrong, but when in the Open GD-77 CPS, I click on "Extra", then select "Radio Type" ( which is a GD-77), then click on "Download and Update", then another screen opens that says" Select release version", but there is no file to select. I assumed the CPS would download the latest firmware files, but nothing is happening.

CPS is version R2021.03.02.01 Any idea what I am doing wrong? BTW, I had the GD-77 radio in DFU mode during this time.

Unfortunately, there is nothing to download. The files have been removed by the main developer of the OpenGD77 software. Please read the following:

WOW, I missed the download opportunity by one day. What do they say, "timing is everything" and in this case so true.

Can anyone direct me to a location where I would be able to download the Open GD77.sgl file and the Open DM1801.sgl file?

There still are some Telegram channels with OpenGD77 firmware archive: @opengd77_fw and @gd77sfirmware.

There is a standalone firmware loader exe for both Windows and Linux, here

Unfortunatly the loader can no longer download the firmware directly as we are no longer allowed to host the firmware because of a screw up with the original software license document.

I don't know what is on Telegram, as I don't currently have an account there

But just go for whatever is the most recent

If they have versions which have _JA at the end, those are for Japanese users and have a differnt font.

So don't use those unless you are Japanese

That's the last and best version.

The ongoing status of the project is unclear at the moment.
There is a grey area with the distribution of the firmware, which potentially could be fixed by changes to the firmware and the CPS.
We should do this regardless, as it gets rid of the grey area.

At the moment I don't know if there are other problems, e.g. as the project uses code from various sources, all with different licenses

I am for KC7RBW to finish his compliance audit, before any decision about the future can be taken.

Either way, the source code and firmware can't stay on github, becuase even if it is software license compliant, it may potentially breach Github's terms and conditions.

So its safer for me to relocate it to a server I pay for.
