Post by g1euq » Mon Apr 13, 2020 9:32 am

CAL DATA ERROR
hi all, trying to load the latest fw release into my gd77 using open gd77 cps (bd, 20191228) and i get cal data error on booting the radio after installing, the radio is also locked and i have to remove the battery, turn off,and reboot in fw download mode and reload the previous fw v69d1313 then all is well.
i've tried with the latest version of opengd77 cps, factory reset, install from stock radiodity fw all with the same result

any ideas appreciated, best regards Bert G1EUQ

This problem has been explained before, but I can't find the post at the moment.

This means the calibration data in your radio has an invalid data header.

Use the CPS to backup the Flash memory, and then use Hxd to fix the error in the header.

https://mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/

The calibration
Address: 8F000
Data: 0xA0 ,0x0F ,0xC0 ,0x12 ,0xA0 ,0x0F ,0xC0 ,0x12

Change those values in HXD. Save file then restore it back to the radio and then reboot the radio

Best regards and keep up your superb work on these radios, it's much appreciated !!

No worries

You should probably take a look at your calibration data using the screen in the CPS, because if the header was messed up, the data may also have been messed up.

The reference oscillator is normally in the range 980 to 1010. I can’t remember the ranges of the DMR modulation settings.

The power levels for 1 and 5W may also be incorrect

Thanks again Roger, I'll check all that out later and adjust with freq, counter and power meter !!

No worries

Usually the frequency calibration is OK, unless whatever corrupted your calibration data really trashed it.

Actually I know what trashes it, as its a bug in the official firmware ;-)

Calibrating the power level is also worth doing, as the power calibration that is done at the factory is usually wildly inaccurate !
