Post by W8LDO » Wed Sep 07, 2022 9:18 pm

anyone having problems with decode tones. I am having problems with 100hz for sure. it will send but won't squelch decode for it. Having issues with the MD 9600. No problems on the gd-77.

Tested transmitting on my GD-77 on 100Hz with the MD9600 Rx CTCSS set to 100Hz ... It worked fine.

Did you do the same test ?

It transmits the tone out just fine on both of my 9600's but doesn't decode for an incoming signal, or at least for 100hz. tx is fine rx is not.

Just to confirm, you performed the same tests

You transmit on with 100Hz CTSS on your GD77, but the squelch in your MD9600 does not open when 100Hz is selected?

I presume you primarily saw this problem when receiving from a repeater, but you didn't make it clear in your report, whether that was the case and also the callsign of the repeater.

Also, what FM bandwidth are you using on Rx ? i.e FM 25kHz or FM Narrow 12.5 kHz

Also try changing the Rx CTCSS setting on your MD9600 to the 2 subtones on either side of 100Hz, i.e. 97.4Hz and 103.5Hz and see if either of those subtones are triggered when transmitting on the GD77 on 100Hz
