W8EMV Ed Ann Arbor MI EN82dg

Post by w8emv » Sun Dec 11, 2022 5:36 pm

Greetings from Ann Arbor MI - just installed OpenGD77 on my RD-5R,
and when I have sufficiently figured it out I'll swap over the firmware
to it on my GD-77 (and also on my son's GD-77 if I can convince him
of it).

Biggest challenge so far for the RD-5R is that the docs all refer to the
keyboard layout of the GD-77 so I have to keep the reference page of
what key actually does what open separately. And for some reason the
firmware change lost my DMR ID and I haven't managed to put it back
in yet.

The plan right now is to figure out the analog side, test against the various
local analog repeaters, and then tackle the DMR side.
