Hello,
I recently acquired a Raddiodity GD77s. I also noticed that the OpenGD77 software is compatible with this radio. As you know, this radio does not have an LCD display and is controlled entirely through buttons on the side and top.
My main question is how I could operate the Satellite tracking software on this radio (without a display). I already have an RD-5R and enjoy the OpenGD77 software on that radio. I can see how to operate the analog and DMR channel but am scratching my head on how to operate Satellite mode.
Also, do you have plans to expand the supported radios that OpenGD77 can be installed on? I noticed that most or all of the radios that are supported are no longer available.

GD77s Questions
Re: GD77s Questions
Satellite mode is not supported on the GD77s as it would require very complicated sequences of button presses on a radio which only has the 2 buttons on the side.
Re: Porting to other radios
This is an extremely complex and time consuming task, taking thousands of hours of time and effort.
The Chinese companies offer no help with this, and actively try to prevent unauthorised firmware being loaded , by using encryption

Re: GD77s Questions
Thank you for the quick reply. In your opinion, does installing OpenGD77 on the GD77s make any sense at all?
What would I gain by installing the FW on this radio?
Thanks again

Re: GD77s Questions
It does give you more functionality than the official firmware, but mainly for DMR.
Voice prompt information is also more extensive.
However the user interface is more complex because we only have the 2 side buttons to work with .
AFIK the controls are quite well documented in the User Guide
