Have had my GD-77 for a month or so. No DMR repeater in range of my QTH, so I’ve put off spending a lot of time with it. I guess it is time to learn. I apologize in advance for the forthcoming stupid questions.

Most people buy a cheap hotspot so they can get onto one of the various DMR networks
