I have had my ticket since 2017, rarely spend anytime on the hobby. Was in the HT bands with a Yaesu FT-857D and a GR5V antenna where there is mostly bickering and chastising. I get that at the local store. I also built some homebrew antennas which was fun.
I recently sold the FT-857D and bought a Yaesu VX-7R and a Radioddity GD77 thinking maybe digital will be more interesting. Just got my digital ID and have a hotspot coming this weekend.
I ran across open GD77 researching radios. Hopefully I don't brick my radio playing around, ha.
