Fairly new to DMR.
I got the GD-77 for promiscuous mode, but it FAILS!
It will NOT let you completely monitor an unknown signal nor will it DISPLAY everything you need to program.
IE You must know the Color Code AND Time Slot for it to work.

Does the Open FW do that?
Thanks!

Yes it does.
Talkgroup, timeslot and colour code filtering can all be turned on and off.

Note that colour code filtering is normally used as part of the valid signal detection. Turning it off will allow any signal to be received but it may also cause spurious noises to be heard. It is recommended not to leave it turned off all the time.

I'm having this same problem.
Pretty sure it was working shortly after I installed the OpenGD77 firmware, but no longer acting "promiscuous".
I've tested by choosing one of my zones on the GD77 that contains TG93 and TG91, then checking what traffic I hear on hoseline vs the radio.
I have all 3 filters (DMR, CC, and TS) disabled.
I'm new to DMR and this software, so maybe it's me. Thanks.

Does these TGs are part of your static TG list on your hotspot ? BM will only send to your hotspot statically defined or dynamically linked TGs, only.

Cheers.

Thank you Daniel. I added a few TG to my Static list, now working.

Side-note: I also tried an All Channels scan (digital and analog) and that works properly now also. Very nice...kudos to the devs!

As a follow up, the monitor/promiscuous mode has been working very well since setting up my static TGs.
My Filters (DMR, CC, TS) are all Off.
However, this morning I was hearing a lot of QSOs on one of those TGs but I wanted to engage in a QSO on a different TG, that being another static that is in my list.
I changed the DMR Filter to TG and selected that which seemed to stop all decode, but couldn't figure out how to only decode and TX on the single desired TG?

Thanks...

Hi,

Masters are sending the now active TG to your hotspot, not all static TGs at once.
So, if you wave, lets say, TGx, TGy and TGz, and you want to talk to TGz, but TGx is a pretty active one, you have to wait the TGx become silent to be able to transmit to TGz.
But if noone respond quickly enough on TGz, TGx will take the hand over the traffic (as it's really active).
You can experience that when you have TG91 in the list, as it's a really active TG most of the time.
You can even hear some mixed QSOs issued from differents TG sometimes.

By the way, don't turn the CC filter off, it's not a normal usage, as it's designed to detect unknown color code only, as it introduce a lot of squeaky sounds and undesired effects.

Cheers.

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for the tip on leaving CC turned On. I had that Off as I read in the online manual that:
"This feature should NOT be used for normal operation, the CC match detection is slow, and can cause the DMR signals to not be received correctly until the CC is found by the algorithm."

RE:
"So, if you wave, lets say, TGx, TGy and TGz, and you want to talk to TGz, but TGx is a pretty active one, you have to wait the TGx become silent to be able to transmit to TGz."

Hmmm... so in your example if TGx is very active it will continue to interfere with my ability to Rx/Tx exclusively on the desired TGz. That's disappointing but I'm guessing that's a limitation of either the BM Network or maybe DMR in general? If that's the case I'll have to reconsider the TG membership of my static list vs using them dynamically.

It's DMR in general, as you only have two timeslots (on Duplex), so there is no point to use a ton of network bandwidth for nothing.

I don't know if you have a Simpex or Dual hotspot. but you can make the most active (and sometimes annoying) TG as dynamic.
On Simplex, it can even become "auto static" (never disconnect after the 15 minutes timeout), then you can still disconnect from it sending a PC4000 (on duplex it's all 15 minutes timeout for dynamic TGs), which permits you to make it silent when you need to activate/operate another TG for a QSO.

Cheers.
