Hi Holger
Its bad programming on their part. The bootloader should never do checks that prevent it updating the main firmware.
Also the main application firmware also must be doing something which is a really bad idea, as it must be updating the same internal ROM that contains the main application
Its always high risk doing these things, hence the OpenGD77 does not do them
[Corrupted official firmware] Radio won't enter the bootloader
Re: [Corrupted official firmware] Radio won't enter the bootloader
I have the Same issue with Firmware V4.2.6. curious if you have pictures on the setup for manually doing it with the bootloader and where you soldered to the board? thanks. Jim C, KC1OGS

I don't think I have any photos, but the pads you need to connect to are clearly labeled and are on the virtually empty side of the PCB which you see as soon as you open the radio
I think Jason VK7ZJA has photos of the PCB on the couple of web pages he created about the GD77

Re: [Corrupted official firmware] Radio won't enter the bootloader
I've realised that the patched bootloaders were in one of the repositories which I had to remove because they breach the Github terms and conditions
So I've now made those files availble on this server
