I found the datasheet for a W25Q128JV-DTR that shows an ID of 7018h.

Well, the CPS is actually able to restore the backup okay, but some of the other functions don't work.

My chip clip identifies it as a W25Q128JV-xM device.

Actually it is a Winbond device. It's a 25Q128FVSG chip.

The original flash chip shows SPI ID:EF4014
The new flash chip shows SPI ID:EF7018

Does that sound like the ID code you are referring to?
