Re: BER Bit Error Rate and Hotspot Mode OpenGD77

Welp, I'm an idiot, I missed the context of the GD77 being the hotspot. Oops.

Re: BER Bit Error Rate and Hotspot Mode OpenGD77

For my two radios I just use the mmdvmcal program on PiStar, documented both RX and TX values where the signal falls out, did the math to find the center frequency. I was lucky in that the RX (TX on the hotspot) was 0 interestingly, I had it at 400 previously, and the TX (RX on the hotspot) was 100....

Re: Experimental Contacts cache system

hi, initial testing pressing orange twice (initiate scan) whilst a channel is currently receiving a signal (DMR or FM) the screen doesn't seem to refresh below the signal strength bar, until the incoming signal stops, screen then refreshes and all is OK. incidentally, i have no contacts stored in t...

Re: Install Problems

The MD-380 and GD-77 cables are the same. There isn't anything in the plug. Its just a blank PCB with the wires directly soldered on. Baofeng, in their infinite wisdom, chose to swap the USB D+ and USB D- connections in their radios, so that the cable for the DM-1801 and the RD-5R (DM-5R etc), don'...

Re: Install Problems

I don't have any problems with my cable, except that it's HARD to insert in the radio. Is everyones this way, or is mine just off a bit? Like maybe the connectors aren't exactly the right spacing. The MD380 and the GD77 cable feel exactly the same, so it's the GD77 that's wonky. My MD380 (and all my...

Re: compact GD-77 hotspot

Neat idea, but the USB B connector?? I expected a microUSB, but I suppose it's all the same and perhaps you had one around to savage. Interesting tacking the pi onto the side of it with the custom cable, I might have to do a cable like that myself. I hate using the programming cable all the time for...

Re: Documentation To-Do

I was just pondering the same thing the other day about the manual being the long-term functionality, things that are likely not changing, but a supplemental document (or section in the user guide) for ephemeral or experimental changes. OpenGD77 is moving at a fast pace, which is really nice, just i...

Re: Antenna

Another hotspot suggestion; NA810 antenna's. Very short, flexible, and work perfectly fine around the house. Beyond that, besides a few bad ones, most OEM antennas aren't that bad. Often you have to get to the 8" aftermarket antennas to match them and the longer antennas to beat them. I often use th...

Re: Mains hum on FM Tx with radio in the charger

The TP5100 charger drop-in also is said to improve the RFI on the charger, although it's still pretty significant. Weaker repeaters on one HT disappear as soon as I drop the GD77 or MD380 into the charger, so for me it's not so much "through" the charger as RFI from the charger. I believe the origin...

Re: Fully charged battery shows 94%

I'm using a TP5100 module in my GD77 base with a 12V input from my radiio PSU to charge my GD77 (and MD380), and it charges about twice as fast, less heat, and less RFI. I've also noticed my radio is almost always at 94%, maybe for giggles I'll try my other base which I did not modify and see what i...
