Re: Recent versions of firmware will be removed

The source code will be released soon, however I will need to remove some private code which is not released, for various new functions and enhancements. IMHO the reason why OpenGD77 became so popular is that it is (was?) open source. Please keep it open source. For example, open source WSJT is a s...

Re: Recent versions of firmware will be removed

But every time the manufactuerer changes the firmware download, their latest firmware needs to be reverse engineered to find the location of all the necessary functions and memory blocks, which is a huge amount of work Or you could stick with one particular version of the official firmware. Or some...

Re: Recent versions of firmware will be removed

For example: you posted that part of the firmware is closed source, as it originates from the manufacturer. I don't see this as a problem as whatever licence you chose only apply to the part you drafted and for these parts you publish the source code. The licence you chose does not apply to the par...

Re: Licence change?

The primary reason why I started using OpenGD77 is that it is open source. I want to learn about ham radio, electronics, software... I want to see what's under the hood. Open source encourages people to test new versions for free. And write good manuals for free. And in bug tracking the more eyes yo...

Re: USB cable does not install as COM port

I have a Baofeng DM-5R PLUS. The original firmware displays BF-5R when starting. Some versions displayed RD-5R. Maybe this can even be changed via the original CPS? To install OpenRD5R firmware, you have to boot the radio into firmware upload mode. That is, press the two buttons around PTT and power...

Re: Licence change?

Thanks for the explanation! Impressive detective work! Even achieving the memory map is impressive! Well, the Radioddity binary is not a library. At least Radioddity did not release it as a library. I used the word "library", because with the wrappers it is used like a library. But as I said, I'm no...

Re: Licence change?

The License was never valid, because the project contains large sections of binary (almost have the binary size), for which there is no source code, because the firmware used sections of the official Radioddity firmware. I'm a layman, not a lawman. But isn't the Radioddity binary just a non-free li...

Re: Having issues with the built firmware

I spend literally hundreds if not thousands of hours a year on this firmware and the CPS Thanks, impressive work! If you publish the source code, others can help finding bugs and even help developing new features. That's how Linux has become so great. Linus Torvalds has not done everything by himse...

I have now renewed my code plug. All ok.
Do you know which change in your codeplug solved the problem?

Re: Restore factory firmware, did I goof up?

Hi Steve!

Have you read this: LOW BT VERSION

When the radio is in firmware update mode, it does not appear as a COM device, it's a HID. During other OpenGD77 operations (such as codeplug read/write) the radio is a COM device.
