Re: New Beta version 2022 10 28

Loaded this newest FW for the MD-9600. Seems fine until I try and use the D key on the mic for 'latching' and then adjusting the power level. Seems that the D key no longer latches on a Long Press. Am I missing something or did something change in the Key configuration / assignments? AA3RP I think ...

Hardware thoughts and comparison

From a thread in the MD-UV380 / RT-3S radio section, VK3KYY stated Various people have tested these radios under laboratory conditions, and Rx performance on the RT3S was measured to be the same on UHF on the GD77 and RT3S. However, IMO the RT3S RF hardware design is inferior to both the GD77 and DM...

Re: BAOFENG DR-1801UV FIRMWARE

see this post https://opengd77.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2279 None of the current production Baofeng '1801' radios will work with the 'Open' Firmware developed and supported here. The current production radios are being labeled DR-1801UV as yours and I have seen DM-1801v2 and other labeling. The botto...

Re: gd-77 HT vs md-uv380 performance

BTW. Power calibration on all UV380/RT3S radios seems quite wrong. By default the 5W / High power setting seems to be outputting well in excess of 5W on most people's radio I plan to make a calibration screen for the firmware, becuase its impractical to modify the CPS to handle the different calibr...

Re: gd-77 HT vs md-uv380 performance

ok, for what its worth here are the measurements for my RT3s , and my DM1801: RT3S: VHF 146.000Mhz , TX 6.33W rx sq open 0.2 uV ( -121dbm) loss of signal 0.134 uV (- 124.5bdm) UHF446.000Mhz, TX 5.3W rx sq open 0.25 uV ( -119dbm) loss of signal 0.23uV ( -119.8 dbm) DM-1801 VHF 146.000Mhz , TX 5.3W r...

gd-77 HT vs md-uv380 performance

I have GD-77, DM-1801 (original), and RD-5r HT radio's. The GD-77 and DM-1801 are basically the same radio hardware wise, with some difference in the external key arrangement, and the RD-5r seems to be a DMR radio put into a UV-5r shell using all the same batteries and accessories. I find no noticea...

Re: ERROR - OUT OF BAND

Thank you - I found the correct setting with your suggestion. Band limits are clearly turned off in my codeplug, but not so in the radio. Options >> Band Limits: CPS Don K4DPR Can you change the Band Limit to CPS using the radio only ? You should be able to, and I believe that will fix the issue yo...

Re: Flaws with new versions (scan/recognising burst)

I have tested yesterday, the same as you said - slower scan, data bursts stop scan + wierd noises; the same is if you are on one channel, without scan + i have aslo found out, if i'm on the vfo mode on a channel, it doesn't do it - but i need longer test, so will report if this is true. The scan is...

Re: GD-88, the new Radioddity DMR radio

what I can tell from the photos of the internal of the GD-88 is that it has two (C7000) processors and from the report of a current owner two RF receive circuits (paths). Might be an impressive radio, but I doubt there will any independent 3rd party firmware for this radio any time in the near futur...
