Just to mention, the Retevis RT90 is the same beast as the TYT MD-9600, it just uses different version numbering.

It's a fresh windows install, Win 7 and SP1 nothing else. This is catch 22, I can't get the GD77 firmware onto the rig without the software and the software won't run without the firmware being installed. The HID driver is issued from Microsoft, not the CPS installation (unlike the serial driver). ...

Not sure if this will help. Completely fresh windows 7 with SP1. Install OpemGD77CPS when asked if I want to install the drivers I make sure the box is ticked. the install ends, and I get the following GD773.jpg I still get the same problem with the software, in that there is no comm port listed to...

My suspicion is that the drivers for the original version and the GD77CPS are clashing somehow.
In your device manager, that HID device should have Hardware IDs defined to:
HID\VID_15A2&PID_0073

Hi, Thanks for the reply. The problem is no communication between the software and the rig, without that communication the firmware cannot be loaded. In your video, I see no reason why the scanner should stop. You are claiming that your transceiver does not produce any sound, but this video doesn't try to demonstrate this. Also, in your early posts you wrote that you were running the latest beta, but in the one with the video link, it's July 11th...
