Are you sure that you confirm your change by the green button ? I just checked it and it works perfectly (on the latest beta firmware).

The firmware loader uses different protocol than CPS, so it doesn't want COM port, it's happy with HID device. So you can use tha cable which you have and if you start the radio in bootloader mode, it will find it and flash it. I'm using a separate flasher available for GD-77, possibly the same will...
