This has been asked before.
Unfortunately the answer is no.

This is because the MD750 uses the HRC7000 chip for which there is very little documentation and no publicly available toolchain.

You are correct, at the moment there is no key assigned to the manual backlight. So it can't be used.

If you are trying to load new firmware you must put the radio into bootloader mode.
Hold down the top two side keys when turning on the radio.

Only the GD77 code has been released. The code for the newer radios is not yet stable.
