I have just installed the tp5100 but in output it gives me 8.3 volt Is it normal? Or should I give 8.4? If I use the original charger of only 500ma, will the battery charge well? Always good etiquette to tell what you did to solve the issue in case someone later finds themselves in the same situation. Even if it was user error, it might help someone out.

By the way, I've tried this twice and both times worked but your mileage may vary! Run Update in Pi-Star, watch the GD77. As soon as it drops out of Hotspot mode (pretty far into the update process) turn it off. Then unplug etc. Then when you're putting it back on hotspot duty, plug in, turn on, and...

Odd, when I converted from stock GD77 firmware to OpenGD77 everythiing just worked. You sure you're using the OpenGD77 CPS? You'll want to clean up your codeplug significantly anyway, as you probably had a lot of duplicate channels with different talk groups (which is typical) and that's no longer n...
