Re: New ongoing "Development" version has been created

This type of explanation leads me to think that if from the beginning the reasons for your interventions had been clear, as now, perhaps we would not have arrived in this unpleasant situation. That's good feedback and I take it seriously, thank you for offering it. I agree that at least my first re...

Re: Licence change?

Only do something for open source projects if they belong to a big organization that is responsible and takes care of possible legal problems. Good governance (like the Linux Foundation or the Apache Foundation) can sometimes help open source projects thrive. Other organizations like Oracle, MongoD...

Re: New ongoing "Development" version has been created

Question to KC7RBW: Given the result of your "LEGALITY" request, about OpenGD77, how do you feel today ??? ...... Thank you for your fabulous contribution to the HAM community spirit. Roberto I feel relieved, puzzled, and hopeful. I'm relieved that Roger has decided to do his best to comply with th...

Re: Licence change?

now you have killed the whole thing Gosh, I hope not! I never asked anyone to take down the builds - never even suggested or implied it. I never asked anyone to stop working on the project. Releasing the source code doesn't force anyone to stop working on it - quite the opposite! As far as my own a...

Re: Licence change?

Thank you for posting the source code, Roger. I think there's a path forward from here. however I will need to remove some private code which is not released, for various new functions and enhancements. Can we trust that that private code was not part of any of the releases you previously posted? I ...

Re: Recent versions of firmware will be removed

So, you feel not enough recognized for you contribution? Is this the real background reason for your complains? That's not it at all! I have no problem with not being listed in menuCredits.c or not being "included" in the group of maintainers. I made some small but important contributions, but not ...

Re: Recent versions of firmware will be removed

If anyone is interested, here are the copyright holders of the latest source code release of OpenGD77, by number of lines of code in .c or .h files. This does not correctly attribute code that was copied in from other projects like MMDVMHost, or code that's owned by ARM, Amazon (FreeRTOS), or Freesc...

Re: Recent versions of firmware will be removed

Because of constant complaints, about the badly drafted software license on the project, I am being forced to remove all recent builds of the firmware from being downloaded. Removing the builds doesn't fix your problem. You already distributed the builds. The remedy is to release the source code fo...

Re: Licence change?

Not that it is necessary, as the license was always totally invalid.... but the code has been rewritten. "totally invalid" is a stretch. I've described a remedy for the AMBE problem (merge it into the firmware at upload time instead of build time) and the only part of the license that's invalid is ...

Re: Licence change?

Roger, did you also replace all of Jonathan Naylor's MMDVM code?

I'm not trolling - I care about the firmware being open. I think it was wrong of you to close it and I want to persuade you to change your mind so it can be open again.
