Re: Calibrating Power?
Its simple. 1.Connect the USB cable to the radio 2.Run the CPS 3.Open the Calibration screen and read the data from the radio 4.Set the radio to 1W. 5.Measure the power, and adjust the 1W (Low power) power number for the frequency you are transmitting on. If the power is too low, increase the number...

Re: [MMDVMHost] Hotspot output power setting.
It would be possible to build a meter which automatically synchronises with the DMR signal, but it seems pointless unless its absolutely impossible for the radio to transmit just a carrier, or FM etc

Re: [MMDVMHost] Hotspot output power setting.
I don't know if a DMR power meter actually exists.
I discussed this with a technician who repairs Motorola DMR radios, and the radios have a special "Test" mode where they transmit a carrier with no DMR pulses etc, so that the technician can test the power output

Re: [MMDVMHost] Hotspot output power setting.
Ok. I have a cheap digital SWR / Power meter. I it just has one big red button on the front and a LCD display. I don’t know how accurate it is, but it’s good enough for the use it put it to. BTW. The MMDVM Jumbospot hotspots are extremely insensitive. I investigated the cause of the insensitivity a ...

Re: [MMDVMHost] Hotspot output power setting.
I've finally remembered to update the User Guide, so that it now includes the table supplied by Daniel Awesome! Thank you! I've actually found that 50mW covers me for about 100 feet at the house here, which is interesting, because the radio itself at 50mW I could barely get into my hotspot. Did you...

Re: Is there a guide to setting up hotspot mode?
Dave One problem which a lot of people come across is RF injection into the USB cable and possibly the RPi power. Generally you need to run the hotspot to an external antenna so that you don't have loads of RF in the shack. Also you may need to put RF chokes on the USB cable and anywhere else where ...

OK.
In that case its design is probably based on analysis the DM-5R

Ailunce HD1
FYI
I was just sent a schematic for a Ailunce HD1 and it the hardware appears to be very similar to the RD-5R
As Retrevis sell the Ailunce HD1, and Retrevis are just a rebranding company like Radioddity, I presume this radio is probably a rebranded Baofeng, or possibly a rebranded TYT radio?
