Re: Hi de WE6R, new GD-77 owner, promiscuous mode help.

Yes it does. Talkgroup, timeslot and colour code filtering can all be turned on and off. Note that colour code filtering is normally used as part of the valid signal detection. Turning it off will allow any signal to be received but it may also cause spurious noises to be heard. It is recommended no...

Re: Build assistance

I am happy either way. It just seems like an unnecessary complication that could easily be avoided.

Re: Build assistance

As far as I can see there is no longer any need to require people to create the two files after downloading.
That used to be necessary when they contained the codec but as they are now just two empty files why not just keep it simple and include them with the download?

Re: GD77 Not Powering On - Fixed

Another Ebay Purchase of a known faulty GD77 at a bargain price of £8 including postage. The fuse was blown again but this time the short circuit was due to a burn-up of the audio amplifier chip. There was quite a lot of PCB damage underneath the chip including a short between the multilayer ground ...

Re: Recent versions of firmware will be removed

The Chinese fonts were part of the original firmware. They were never included in OpenGD77.

Re: Recent versions of firmware will be removed

I can probably answer that. Yes, in theory it could be done. No, it wouldn’t be simple, there are lots of potential problems. For example there is very little spare memory available so any new codec would have to fit in the existing space. It is unlikely that any existing alternative codec code woul...
