Re: TYT MD-398 UHF

I cannot seem to find a Retevis GD55 as referenced above. There is a an RT-55 that is a Marine Radio
However the RT83- looks much like the TYT MD-398 so I downloaded the cps and it works fine with the MD-398.
In fact it appears to work better as the TYT version has some issues with the Group Lists

Re: TYT MD-398 UHF

I did not buy this radio. It was given to me by someone that also had it given to them, when they found it could not be used on a dmr repeater. I have, however, got it working on TS2 through a hotspot and working well. In this mode it is a good radio, 10w power and excellent audio on rx. Good report...

Re: TYT MD-398 UHF

Different Radio

This is a 10 watt handheld that is a single band, either vhf or uhf. I have the UHF version.
I have a tyt MD-uv390 set up with opengd77 firmware connected to a radxa zero

The 10watt md-398 would give me more range. As it is, it works fine as a hand held into the MD-UV390

TYT MD-398 UHF

The TYT MD-398 UHF is a single timeslot(TS1) radio that cannot be used on a DMR repeater but works fine on a simplex hotspot as the mmdvm module converts it into a single timeslot on TS2. A mod is available for the cps that opens up TS2 for selection. It would really be neat if an openGD77 conversio...

Hello From Ontario Canada

Name Phil Call VE3RD I have been a ham since the mid 70's and for the last 10 years I have been heavily to UHF Digital modes. I started in Fusion but gave that up in favour of DMR on the TGIF Network. I now have 8 hotspots, one of which runs a dual bridge on TGIF 302 Canada to DMR+ and 3023 Ontario ...
