Re: Spurious emissions

I've measured all my VHF/UHF radios with a TinySA. There was a learning curve, because if you feed the TinySA more than -30dBm, it can generate internal spurs, which can make things look worse than they really are. If we assume 40 dB below carrier level is compliant, my "Big Three" Japanese radios a...

Re: New Win11 PC, can't load STM DFU driver for MD9600

For what it's worth, I just updated to the 2023-08-18 firmware. This time, there were no issues. There has been at least one Windows (11) update since I last updated the firmware. Both Win11's Memory Integrity and the newer Kernel Mode Hardware-Enforced Stack Protection security features were enable...

Re: New Win11 PC, can't load STM DFU driver for MD9600

Update: I just tried to do another firmware update for the first time in 7 months. I had the same problem. (Yes, I was in firmware update (DFU) mode with the radio's display blinking). The MD9600 again showed up in device manager as an unconfigured digital USB radio, and CPS could not communicate wi...

Thank you! That worked perfectly.

Re: New Win11 PC, can't load STM DFU driver for MD9600

Update: With Memory Integrity(*) turned off, the driver loaded, and it worked. I was able to update the MD-9600 firmware to the latest version. That's the good news. The bad news is that the driver's presence, even unused, means that I can't turn Memory Integrity back on. I was hoping that with the ...

New Win11 PC, can't load STM DFU driver for MD9600

I just got a new Windows 11 PC. It works perfectly with my GD77 for both codeplug and firmware loading. My MD-9600 is another matter. With the radio in firmware update mode, Device Manager shows an unconfigured "Digital Radio in USB Mode" in "Other Devices. I downloaded en.stsw-stm32080.zip from the...

Re: Spectal purity paranoia

Thanks, Colin. I re-ran my measurements, this time at 1 watt and 5 watts output, directly into the TinySA through a 90 DB pushbutton variable attenuator. My attenuator's limit is 5w. The RF sampler I have for HF is not flat at VHF/UHF, so I can't use it to measure accurately at higher power. It seem...

Spectal purity paranoia

I recently got a TinySA spectrum analyzer. So of course, I've been playing with it and measuring my various radios harmonic output. I have several VHF and UHF radios, and all but one are compliant with the FCC spectral purity requirement that transmitted harmonics and spurs must be, at most, -40 dB ...

Re: User Interface controls

OK, 19 times-- the 17 instances below, plus twice more when it is first described in the 'Variations by radio' section. My point is that the word "function" is indeed already used to describe the key in question, the way I've indicated. Honestly, I'm not trying to be a pest here. I just think that a...

Re: User Interface controls

Hi, Except the SideKeys aren't modifiers only, they are also acting as buttons with short, long and extra long press events. So Function and Shift are irrelevant. SK acronym could also stand for Special Key in this regard. Cheers I don't think Function is irrelevant. The word "function" appears in ...
