Re: MD-9600 / RT-90 Installation

How can I determine which version of MD9600 I have? I tried every version of firmware to identify a good backup firmware file but did not allow the unit to transmit or receive after loading. Open the top of the radio and look at the Version number printed on the PCB I think the person should read t...

Re: talkaround mode

I'm in NM USA and quite a few hams use Motorola DMR radios and other commercial oriented DMR radios. I've used talkaround on more than one occasion for simplex operation, when the repeater is down or out of range. In lieu of programming a simplex channel we put a repeater channel into talkaround mod...

Re: Hardware Thread for the ebayer

GD-77 and DM-1801 have several advantages over the UV380/RT-3S They both have separate RF sections for VHF and UHF and hence have a cleaner Tx signal and also better Rx sensitivity Also they take around 30% less current when in Rx standby. So have much better battery life than the UV380/RT3S SNIP I...

Re: DR-1801

if someone is interested in hacking on an Auctus A6 based radio and they happen to be in the US, right now a non-keypad version, CO04D is going for USD$12 ea. I doubt you could buy the individual components for that price. BTW, here are some CPS screenshots taken of Auctus A6 related radios and a di...

Re: [Radio model not supported] New Baofeng 1801 won't enter in upload mode

this radio uses the Auctus A6 chip, it is used in a variety of low cost DMR HT besides Baofeng. A ham in the United States dove pretty deep in another radio using the A6. Here is a good collection of info on the A6 https://jhart99.com/auctus-a6/ https://jhart99.com/auctus-a6-revealed/ https://jhart9...

Re: Greetings from Seattle. Considering OpenGD77.

I have 40+ years IT experience, it wasn't called IT when I started. You should get an GD77, I have 3 of them for family use and help other local club members install OpenGD77 and Open1801 on several other GD77 radios. In addition I bought one to give to my brother, unfortunately I didn't realize the...

Re: FYI. Porting to other TYT / Retevis radios

if you ever have a need for a MD-2017 let me know, it isn't going anywhere. well I can still provide the radio to a developer, even if you use it as a paperweight :-) I figure it has more usefulness in the hands of someone other than myself. FWIW, I've donated quite a bit of hardware to OpenBSD proj...
