Re: Is the GD77 hardware capable of analog cross band repeater function?

Lame. Well, I guess patching two radios together is my next experiment. Haha

[Not possible] Is the GD77 hardware capable of analog cross band repeater function?

The sticked post above makes it sound like cross time slot repeat may not be doable without at least some other ground work. But what about analog cross band? If the hardware supports it, here's my wishlist: Cross band repeater function with selectable one-way and two-way modes for both adhoc repeat...

Re: Where does a custom firmware project begin?

So the bottom line is that a ground up firmware build is the way to go. Massive undertaking initially, but once the foundation is complete building more features on top it becomes easier. To build new firmware for existing hardware you would need datasheets for all the major components of the hardwa...

Re: Where does a custom firmware project begin?

So the hard part is not having the original source code because reverse compiling it won't restore the notes and structure that higher level languages use to make it understandable by humans. Makes sense. Too bad it's unlikely the manufacturer couldn't be sweat talked into making the source code ava...

Re: Where does a custom firmware project begin?

Hey, thanks for the reply! Definitely sounds complex. Someone told me that the firmware on the Anytone radios is not encrypted and can be opened easily, but I haven't got as far as trying yet. You almost make it sound easier to start from scratch, but that's definitely not something I'm up for tackl...

Where does a custom firmware project begin?

Hello! I'm interested in learning how to make alterations to device firmware. First a little background, while I don't do coding myself, my dad was a firmware engineer before he retired and my brother dove way into it in high school and college. So I have an idea what I'm getting into. It's just bee...

Alrighty, thanks! I didn't see that, just autofilled it with a username I commonly use on forums.

Hello from the Pacific Northwest

Hello! My name is Lee and I'm from western Washington. Callsign AI7FL. Relatively new ham, got my extra a month and a half ago. I'm an Anytone user primarily, I'm here to figure out what the possibilities are for getting something like this going for them. Every time I get a piece of equipment I alw...
