Questions about Talkgroups and best practices

I'm looking for some guidance in the best way to build codeplugs. As I understand it, TimeSlot assignment is at the Channel (or repeater) level. But in fact, timeslots seem to be more related to talkgroups. My local repeater has some Talkgroups assigned to one TimeSlot and others to the second. I do...

Screen Backlight during scan

Not a feature request, as I'm just learning, but it seems to me that turning off the screen backlight while scanning would be a good idea. Don
t really need to see the screen till it stops on a station. Wicked fast scam! Very well done!

Re: Codeplug for all NEDECN New England Repeaters

I did download the call sign database from Radio.ID. That explains why I'm seeing it after I try to key a repeater.

Re: Codeplug for all NEDECN New England Repeaters

I tried turning off the filtering and hear nothing different. I did transmit while watching NetWatch and I'm not showing up there. The odd thing to me (again, an old timer trying to get this digital stuff), is that I do get my call sign sent back to the radio. Must be the repeater as it's sending my...

Re: Codeplug for all NEDECN New England Repeaters

It's a learning process. I understand Talkgroup lists now, and I just realized I was on the wrong timeslot for the TG desired. I was so hopeful that would solve it,but it's something else. I'm starting to wonder whether there's something wrong with this radio. I have never heard a sound out of the D...

Re: Codeplug for all NEDECN New England Repeaters

Another question and I realize that I'm a newbe and likely asking stupid questions. I'm having trouble finding where Talk Group lists exist. I seem to have zones, Talkgroups and channels, but don't see talk group lists on my radio.

Re: Codeplug for all NEDECN New England Repeaters

I'm just learning this DMR stuff and may need a bit of an elmer.I updated the firmware on my RD-5R and used the opengd77 software to copy the NEDECN codeplug to my radio, and everything looks great, but I can't seem to hear anything, I select the repeater here in Walpole, then a parrot TG, and when ...
