Localisation support (foreign languages)
Re: Localistion support (foreign languages)
Guys
For those who have sent localised versions of the on-screen text. I now need these texts to be reviewed for use for the voice prompts system
Please check your own language in the files at
https://github.com/LibreDMR/voice-promp ... /languages
Specifically the CSV file.
Note.
1. The abbreviated texts need to be expanded to complete words or phrases. Also symbols like "->" need to be replaces with words like "to"
e.g. "VFO to New Channel"
2. I find sometimes that spreadsheets like Excel do not handle accented characters very well.
If possible use a text editor like NotePad++ ( https://notepad-plus-plus.org/ ) with the file encoding set to UTF8
3. You need to chose a voice from https://voicepolly.pro for your text.
It is best to enter some text into the VoicePolly website, and test it with the various voices available for your language.
In some languages the female voice is easier to hear than the male voice, but its possible for me to download and encode both male and female voices for the same language.
However because there is a daily download quota on https://voicepolly.pro I can't immediately create a full set of voices for all langauges

Hi Roger,
enclosed the revised german wordlist.
Do you also need a revised german.h with the new phrases .audio_prompt,.silent, .normal, ect. for your development branch?

Peter
Thanks.
I can update the german.h, form this wordlist, as the wordlist is just german.h and and the individual letters and numbers and some words that are abbreviated e.g V = "Volts" W="Watts" etc
Re: Localistion support (foreign languages)
Roger,
i think there´s a distinction between the voicepromts and the written strings on the display (max length ..),
therefor it´s better to separate those files (in my opinion).

Re: Localistion support (foreign languages)
Hi Peter
Yes. The texts can be quite different, and there is no character limit for the voice prompts wordlist.
I have not had time today to incorporate your new version of the wordlist, because I have been finding and fixing a bug in the Python script which processes the wordlist file to download and then encode to AMBE and then create the voice prompts data pack.
I finally found the bug in the function which writes the raw audio to the radio, but its now probably too late to start processing the new wordlists, especially as DJ0HF tells me that that some individual letters are not understandable when played via the voice prompt system.
So I need to do some experiments to try to improve the characters which don't sound good.
Thanks
Roger

Re: Localistion support (foreign languages)
hello Roger, I am attaching the file for the translation of the voice prompt in Italian, I made some changes because listening to aws polly some words did not sound good. As a voice, the best seems "Bianca". I created it with notepad ++ with UTF 8 encoding and saved in txt format. Okay so?
@ IZ2EIB Fabio, please also look at the file and tell me if something can be improved.
Thanks IU4LEG Fabio
