Hotspot troubles

Post by ok2zar » Mon Nov 18, 2019 12:21 am

Hi Roger and guys,

I bought GD-77 for hotspot mode only and I've been playing a month with and reached some issues. I've used V0.3.3 (current firmware downloaded 27.9.2019).
  • Hotspot mode started anytime if MMDVMHost runs on x86 platform and in this case HotSpot mode was realy reliable (100%)
  • Using Raspoberry PI ZeroW worked almost fine - reliable for 95% in case the RasPi was powered from own power supply
  • Using Raspberry PI ZeroW sharing radio battery over DC-DC StepDown converter - reliable for less than 1% - All attempts finished with "Waiting for StarPI..." on display
When I flashed current firmware from yesterday then hotspot mode stopped working completely and I haven't found a way how to get working again. So I've tried to flash previous version 0.3.3, original FW, again 0.3.3 but still nothing. Currently I'm unable to get HotSpot mode in any scenario and HW setup. Does exist any hint how to get it working again, pls?

All tests were done on Raspbian and Debian (in case of x86 platform tests) as well as using current MMDVMhost - I don't using any prepared image for RasPi.

The latest Hotspot version is not 100% stable it still has bugs

Also, Did you press the Black button during startup?

I've just tried to start MMDVMHost and hold down black button when powering on the radio and It seems to be working fine. Thanks.

PL:
Niestety ja tyle szczęścia nie miałem, u mnie nie działa Hotspot v0.0.72
Przy starcie trzymam czarny (SK1) klawisz i nic bez nie go czasem się włączy ale nie wiem od czego to zależy.

EN:
Unfortunately, I wasn't so lucky, Hotspot v0.0.72 doesn't work for me
At startup I hold the black (SK1) key and nothing without it will sometimes turn on but I don't know what it depends on.

Lukasz.
1-enable GD77 pressed the SK1 button
2-turn on the Raspberry power supply and wait
Keep the order and it should move.
