OpenGD-77 for the Baofeng DM-1801
Hotspot Re: OpenGD-77 for the Baofeng DM-1801
I've loaded the DM-1801 firmware, and have it programmed using the OpenGD77 CPS.
Here's a photo of it operating in HotSpot mode:
I noticed open squelch and hi RF noise levels (especially on VHF) when I first loaded the software and programmed it.

Also...
CAST is working correctly.
The CWID is working, but the tone sound volume is very low and there is white noise on the FM signal transmitted.

Can you check the DTMF tone volume on FM, as I think the CWID uses the DTMF tone generator.
If those tones are also weak, its possibly because the calibration is incorrect, and you should look at the Analog Tx deviation section in the calibration.
You could also try increasing those values in the calibration and see if it helps.

Yes. All analog audio is low and there is loud hiss. Here's the calibration in the radio:
What would be reasonable levels for deviation and audio?
IF changed under the experimental OpenGD77 CPS, can I restore the original firmware if needed and have accurate calibration settings?

Those values look normal for the FM tone modulation settings.kd2lh wrote: ↑Sun Mar 08, 2020 1:26 amYes. All analog audio is low and there is loud hiss. Here's the calibration in the radio:

You can restore the original firmware, and it should work (after you've restored a Baofeng codeplug - assuming you changed the codeplug), because all I do is make a copy of the calibration to address 0xF000 , so that I don't need to make a separate version of the CPS for the GD-77 and the DM-1801
And the address I used (0xF000) is AFIK not used by either the GD-77 or the 1801 official firmware.
Re: OpenGD-77 for the Baofeng DM-1801
Then the "Overall Gain" for those areas may be low at "39"?
Re: OpenGD-77 for the Baofeng DM-1801
I think I figured out the low CWID audio level.

What is the FM channel bandwidth used while sending the ID? Is it 12.5 khz or 25 khz?
