Experimental versions to fix potential speaker hiss

Post by VK3KYY » Mon Mar 02, 2020 1:45 am

I've updated the Latest sgl with a possible fix for a speaker hiss issue which was reported on another thread

https://github.com/rogerclarkmelbourne/ ... latest.sgl

I've also noticed a very minor potential bugs in the audio buffer count handling, which could have caused a crash, and that has been fixed in this version.

For VFO scan mode, I've defaulted the Lower and Upper frequencies to zero when the factor defaults are restored. This will force people to set the scan limits, rather VFO A being defaulted to the 2m band and VFO B being defaulted to the UHF band, which didnt make a lot of sense as people may be using both VFO's on UHF or not scanning inside the Ham bands at all.

I did some other code cleanup's but just to remove redundant / unused code, but this should not effect the functionality, as the code was not being used, and would not even be compiled into the SGL file

Thanks for this version Roger,

Version tested on my GD77 which squeaks, it still remains a small weak squeal, but I think it's independent of the software, from the beginning, an operation with microphone / speaker is normal.

(It looks like a "larsen" between the LF amplifier and the internal speaker which are very close.)

Are you using an external speaker mic ?

Generally no, just for testing or portable use ;)

I just tried this version during the usual route where I get several BS with small, marginal signals.
The reception is very good, with levels below -115dBm on screen. There are cuts, of course, but overall it works quite well.
