Hi Gabriel

I am not sure if you will learn a lot about DMR on this forum, but you will learn a lot about the OpenGD77 firmware ;-)

Well.

I think what will be really interesting is if we can eventually port this code to other radios and even other devices.

If someone had the schematic for the Baofeng DM-1801 I think it would be simple to port the firmware to that radio. But its a non-identical clone inside the box, even though it looks almost the same on the outside.

The RD-5R is almost the same as well, but uses a different display.

I've also got an idea to use the firmware, to build a board that can convert a FM repeater to allow it to connect to the DMR network, as if the original signal was DMR rather than FM.
Perhaps use a GD-77S as a donor radio for this to start with, (but don't use any of the RF side of the GD-77S)

BTW.

If anyone wants to see what happens if you try to load the OpenGD77 into a Baofeng DM-1801

Load the attached firmware.

NOTE. This firmware is encrypted using DM-1801 encrytion and won't load on a GD-77

Also note, it wont receive or transmit, although I think the receiver is being configured correctly, the speaker etc is not.
