Chat Box

Post by NA7Q » Mon Feb 10, 2020 12:01 am

I would love it if the site had a "Shoutbox" or similar type of live chat setup. Or even an IRC, web and or application based would be nifty also.
Anybody else interested in this? I know there's not a lot of traffic, but it would be a great addition to the site.

Don't do this. There will be discussions in the chat that a rarely visited user will not be able to keep up to date. Later there will be questions about which topics were discussed in the chat. Later, nerves will arise, surly answers like (after all, the problem was described in the chat room). To sum up. I'm not behind it.
Greets.

I'd say that happens in a shoutbox and in all forums. No real way to stop that. People do what people do. I've always found having a chat a great addition to a site like this.
Some users think the chat will be rarely used. But in other forums where development is active, the chat is active. Very useful in my experience. I can always create something myself and see if others come. Just looking for more fun and interaction with users. :)

And certainly no hard feeling towards you or anyone. Opinions should be respected not rejected :P

I concur with Piotr. I'm against ChatBox, as knowledge shared in chat is knowledge lost.

There is no way I am installing anything else on this forum.

It’s already difficult to keep the software up to date. And last time I tried to perform a software update it crashed and I had to restore from a backup.

Perhaps I'll create something elsewhere for kicks and see what sort of user base I might get. Would be fun to have a live chat with other users. Call me new school :P I don't have a problem with creating anything either. I do have an IRC that's web based I could use.
Sounds fair. Thanks for the input.

How about IRC? I created ##opengd77 on Freenode. There are several other radio related channels of use on Freenode anyway, ##rtlsdr, ##hamradio, etc.

Group on Telegram its very Easy for all,
but I also think that in the Forum it is easier to find a topic already covered, the chat could only be of support
