Change the Calibration parameters in CPS "Reference oscillator tuning" from 1000 to 995 do the trick and now the new GD77 listening to the hotspot...
Where to find these settings?

Where to find these settings?
The Extras->Calibration screen in the OpenGD77 CPS

I tried playing with the calibration setting along with low power settings on my hotspots that support it, and I still had the audio defect. There are also times when the audio and S-meter drop for a fraction of a second. But the main bug is a digital repeat effect that lasts about a second. And it still happened with the latest firmware version tested today. It always sends me back to the Tier I firmware.

Update: the March 15th, 2020 update seems to have solved this issue on my radio. I had moved a couple states away so just finally got my programming computer setup to try a newer firmware, and perhaps the audio hiss fix in the March 6th update is what really solved the issue. I'm really enjoying all the enhancements to the firmware that have been made since the Tier I firmware.
