Daniel,
I had no problems whatsoever with your latest FW (posted in that other thread) used as a hotspot, not even dropouts in regular use, mostly RX on local TG220 and global TG91.
Also I have 10-11k contacts in DMR ID list. It's not full, but it's alot for this device.
I'll continue testing this FW posted here, as I understand it's successor to the last one you posted in other thread, that I'm testing (with HS v.0.0.87), right?
Okay, nice to read.
Yeah, the 0.0.87 wasn't that good, the newest I poste is 0.0.81.1 (IIRC), with some tweakings regarding USB buffer.

Cheers.

Hello everyone,
I have been trying the latest version and I think there is an error that comes from before, at least since the January 16 version which is the first I have tried.
When the codeplug is uploaded, the TG List is updated, but if the codeplug has less TG list than the device, only those that are uploaded are replaced, and those that have disappeared are not deleted.

I don't know if I knew how to explain it.

I hardly have any IDs stored internally in the GD77, Perhaps 12 of them for local groups and one or two static. All display on my GD77 is likely coming from Talker alias incoming from Brandmeister.

I loaded the .86 firmware (latest version yesterday) onto a new 2019 vintage GD77, and it has been working without rebooting or other problems overnight. Perhaps 12 hours at this point.

The video can be viewed frame by frame, and you'll see some reaction by the GD73 next to it as stations initiate calls. There is no sound on the video.

I'll load the test firmware into the older radio now.

Been running test firmware for about an hour, and active with conversations including local RF and Brandmeister packets.

Seems to be working reliably.

I did see few instances of late entry from local reception and Brandmeister packets:

M: 2020-02-01 14:00:15.482 DMR Slot 2, received network late entry from KD2LH to TG 98977

M: 2020-02-01 14:07:59.789 DMR Slot 2, received network late entry from W1KFR to TG 31371

So far the test .87.1 firmware has been running for 5 hours. It hasn't rebooted.
I am seeing it drop voice packets from conversations, and stay stuck in "TX" mode without the transmitter being keyed. Eventually the "Network End of voice transmission" packet is delivered by Brandmeister and it resets the desktop. The subsequent incoming conversation is properly initiated.

The voice packet drop out could have been a network issue at the sending station's end, but nothing recovered until the network end of voice signal.

Well, for the last 2..3 days, I have some bad Rx quality from BM (drop out, sound stuttering, and so on), even with my MMDVM Dual Hat. So, maybe there is some issues on their side at the moment.

Cheers.

Daniel,
Try some other BM server. I had some problems, more using one ISP then the other, so I changed server and it's better.

Other thing, just had a "ghost frame" after more then 9 hours. :? Edit: just to mention again, it's just a "cosmetic" bug, it doesn't affect functionality, GD77 and Pi-Star keep working properly. You can leave it for later, if you have better things to do. ;)
Should I go back to *HS_ghost_frame.sgl FW and test it as long as this one, or wait for another build? I haven't tested previous for so long, as I test it at work, then at home, which is no more the 8 hours each. I guess I should wait, as you probably only added USB buffer to this latest one (*HS_buffer_tweak.sgl), while you mentioned some idea you will need some time to implement.
Anyway, I'll be around...
Cheers! :)

Yeah, the ghost frame is still here, but I've made some progress, I know from where it NOT comes: D
I planned to investigate another possible source of this problem, but I haven't had time yet.

Cheers.

The 0.87.1 experimental test firmware continues to operate now several hours later.

Voice quality is good. I do get some digital noise at the start of parrot responses. I'm on the 3108 US BM Master. Others have indicated some issues with other masters here recently. I'm still impressed at their reliability and how well the BM VOIP backbone networks work.

Few things I've encountered show the level of collaboration that these Amateur Radio DMR and other digital efforts represent, and I'm a founder of an open source project (Eclipse.org).

Good news 0.87.1 Firmware experiment Re: Update 29th Jan

Post by kd2lh » Sun Feb 02, 2020 1:52 pm

The 0.87.1 experimental firmware has continued to operate without problem for 23 hours.

About 8 hours ago, I switched a very busy talkgroup (3100) static linked onto the hotspot, so there has been considerable activity load from Brandmeister.

So far, no lockups with USB on the PiZero W.

The CWID message on screen is a great enhancement to. Confirms operation.
