Different Calibration after Update FW ???

Post by IK8JHL » Sun Jan 26, 2020 8:10 am

I tried to read the Calibrations of my radio and I compared them with an old reading that I had done before trying the new FW, and I noticed that some parameters related to the powers, the RX and the Ref Osc. have changed. Is it possible that the FW can change these parameters? :?: :!:

The firmware should only be reading the calibration.

More likely there is a bug in the CPS, but no one else reported it.

But, There is a bug in the official firmware where sometimes it seems to overwrite the calibration.
Radioddity may have fixed the bug, in a recent version, but it the bug was definitely in versions like 3.1.9 of the official firmware.

In fact it is strange, also because they are not corrupt files, as you can see they are only small settings. Thanks ;)

Umm

If you write the calibration to the radio and then read it again, does the data change ?

Honestly there isn't any code in the OpenGD77 firmware that modifies the calibration, it would be quite risky to do this as it could break people's radios if they have not backed up and something went wrong.

There functionality in the firmware to write to the Flash memory in general, but its only used to modify the codeplug to Channels and Contact data, and is also used by the CPS to write the codeplug and the DMR ID database.

I think in the long term we may do something which would allow people to make "trial" adjustments to the Refernce oscillator tuning, to save them from having to keep upload the calibration multiple times, but we'd probably do that my making a copy of the calibration data in RAM and adjust that, rather than updating the actual calibration data in the Flash memory.

When I read the calibration they are the same, but I have three backups and they are all different, I had never noticed, only now did I notice.
In the next i recheck

Ciao, ti funzionano entrambi? A me dopo il passaggio al Gd77 non funziona più l'audio e su alcuni rpt neanche la trasmissione
Hi, do they both work for you? To me after the transition to the Gd77 the audio no longer works and on some rpt not even the transmission
