OpenGD77 party with 4G1AKC and 4G1MZF

On Saturday, I updated a couple of GD77 for our DX1ARM club President Jomar 4G1MZF (right) and club Vice President Eric 4G1AKC (center), after our club's general monthly meeting.

That's my daughter peeking from behind me.

Our club has started running a daily roll call at 0900H to 0930H +0800 GMT (that's around 0100-0130H GMT) at BrandMeister Talkgroup 51518 "DX1ARM".

Check-in at
- BM TG51518
- YSF DX1ARM 80991
- DMR2YSF gateway 7080991
- DX1ARM c4fm UHF repeater 431.600
- Echolink DX1ARM-L
- web https://bit.ly/dx1armnet

For digital check-ins, you may simply key up to be acknowledged if without traffic. Stations with traffic will be pulled out during the last part of the roll call. We are thinking of inviting guests to have content for a more topic-focused net.

Hi Angelo,

This kind of party is a good solution to publicize and distribute the OpenGD77 software. :D

Nice party.

Now you need to print some new labels for the radios ;-)

That's awesome, Angelo! Yes, print out some labels for those!

Yeah, that's the first thing everyone notices.

Mine is the stock antenna from my TYT MD-UV390 (shorter and easier to carry overall). Eric has the stock. Jomar bought his from HRO, not sure about the model.

I've been meaning to help them update radios. It's fairly easy once you've done it several times, but for those used to the stock firmware, there's still a learning curve. Meanwhile, some don't have Windows devices, like Jomar (I'm platform agnostic -- I use a mix of Mac, Windows, Linux), so they need an opportunity like this to get updated.

Haha, I do. Did you know that in the Philippines, it's a requirement by our NTC to attach callsign stickers/plates to radios, vehicles or houses/buildings with amateur stations?

I did not know that! But it's a cool idea.

Roger- after next week when I get settled near you maybe we can organize an OpenGD77 party and load everyone up with the latest FW.

I think everyone I know locally who has a GD-77, already has the firmware installed (if they want it).

People don't seem that bothered about keeping it updated, as long as it works for them with whatever they have installed.
