Experimental new feature to display the Last Heard during Tx

Post by VK3KYY » Fri Dec 27, 2019 7:54 am

Guys

Can you give me some feedback on this version.

I've added a feature which displays the Last Heard screen during Tx if you press and hold the Back button on the side of the radio (SK1), when you are transmitting.

So that you can see the station you are in QSO with.

Note. This version also includes a change from Daniel to implement BackLight modes, of Auto, Manual or None.

In Manual mode, the BackLight is toggled via SK1 (the black button), so there may be some conflight with my use of SK1, but I think SK1 is preferrable to using SK2 for the Last Heard during Tx as SK1 is right next to the PTT button and more ergonomic to use than the Blue (SK2) button.

Not bad for old Ham (like me) who lose their memory and who no longer remember who they talk to :D

Ok for the keys, PTT + SK1 is a good choice.
To be test

Hello Roger!
I think it's possible to have the call sign displayed again while sending, great.
Thank you very much...

I think every occasionally forgets. And some callsigns also are more memorable than others.

It is good feature, but IMO it would be better to have option to turn it on or off, instead of pressing side key.

Do you mean instead of the normal Tx screen with the Talk Timer and the TG etc etc ???

Not instead. Just as addendum. Maybe use smaller font for current info, but only if last heard is chosen to be displayed, if not, keep fonts as is.

Just my opinion, you can leave it this way too, with SK.

all working fine here, nice to have the LH option, but also nice to see the timer as well. also the display mode is great (mine is set to auto, 5 seconds).
