problem with Com Driver

Post by N6RXT » Wed Oct 14, 2020 8:40 pm

Today when I went to flash the radio instead of it getting a com port, I got the following error.

USB device not recognised.
the last USB device malfunctioned and windows does not recognise it.
and when I go in to device manager I have an unknown USB device that says device driver descriptor failed.
I tried running the cps installer as admin as well as downloading and running the driver installer and bat file.
I also ran the bat file as admin and it said it installed successfully, but I still get the same error.
What else can I try to get windows to detect the serial port for the radio?

Did you try another USB port or another computer?

Are you using the same cable you normally use? (Baofeng and Radioddity use different / incompatible cables)

I got this fixed. Yes I was using the same cable and radio.
To fix it I did a restore settings from the menu. once I restored settings, I powered on the radio and it worked first time.

OK.,

Thats strange.

I've never seen the USB client in the radio hang, which is what appears to have happened in your case.

I presume the radio was usable, apart from the COM port not working.
As the only time I've seen something similar the radio was constantly rebooting.
