Hi Alfred,

Looking at the dmesg output, it's riddled of:

Code: Select all

[ 211.777881] WARN::dwc_otg_hcd_urb_dequeue:639: Timed out waiting for FSM NP transfer to complete on 1
[ 211.778282] WARN::dwc_otg_hcd_urb_dequeue:639: Timed out waiting for FSM NP transfer to complete on 0
[ 211.812878] WARN::dwc_otg_hcd_urb_dequeue:639: Timed out waiting for FSM NP transfer to complete on 6
Maybe you can try to plug the programming cable to other SUB ports on your Pi3 B+ (maybe it's related to https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/issues/3401)

Cheers.

Hi Daniel,

The upper USB ports "raspberry (2017) pi 3 model B +" are marginally better, but not satisfactory. I also tested a "raspberry (2014) pi model B + V1.2" the same result.
Summary: GD77 hotspot with raspberry (2017) pi 3 model B + and raspberry (2014) pi model B + V1.2 as GD77 hotspot with original SMA antenna does not work well. I have not tested a raspberry zero-w and raspberry 4.

The GD77 hotspot works very well with an external antenna (outside antenna).

For testing can you try a UHF frequency?

My setup is very different from yours but I had issues with my GD77 hotspot while using VHF. MMDVMHOST would routinely lock up while the GD77 was transmitting, even on the lowest power setting. I didn't have the option to use an outside antenna.

I switched the GD77's hotspot frequency from 2M to 70CM and have not had any issues since.

It might be worth trying.

Hi Craig !

I tested UHF with raspberry (2017) pi 3 model B + ....... same problem......

The RF injection blocked in the GD77 or Raspi at the right place ...
Maybe a technician can do that ?

Maybe a Raspberry zero-w is better against HF radiation ?

Hi Alfred,

What is the value of RFLevel in your MMDVMHost config file ([Modem] section).

Cheers.

Hi Daniel, hi Roger !

:D The HF-problem is solved !! :D
Servo cable 3-pole twisted and two turns on 2x ferrite .... SERVOKABEL verdrillt  Ferrit
My ferrite dimensions: outside diameter 10mm and inside diameter 5mm
The HF-power from 50mW to 5watt now work correctly on the GD77 hotspot - no TX-interruption !!

Hi Alfred,

So you have the worst GD-77 programming cable ;)
Glad you find the solution.

Cheers.

Hi Daniel,

I cannot say why there is no problem with many other devices. There are many different hardware setups.
I also can't say whether there are different components on the GD77 board.

The fact is that my cable has to be very radiation-resistant and it works perfectly.
I thank you for your help !

Yeah, but at 50mW, no one as experienced such problem. Maybe the USB plug or the cable itself has a problem.
Anyway, the one you built works ;-)

Cheers.

Hi Daniel,

The changes with the new cable are enormous:
The HF-power from 50mW to 5watt now work correctly on the GD77 hotspot - no TX-interruption !!
I can only recommend every GD77-hotspot operator to make such a cable.
HF in the device brings indefinable states .........

I wrote that I had tried several original programming cables and several GD77 radios - it was already a problem with 50mw HF-power.

I think here is the same problem!
