Configuration of MMDVM Display in CAST mode

Post by kd2lh » Sun Jan 19, 2020 2:22 pm

I just installed the 1/18 update, which (on 4.1.0 RC7) is announced to support the MMDVM Display updates to the GD77 screen (including IP address while the hotspot is idle).

I don't think I've got it configured properly, so corrections and examples would be appreciated.

Doing it wrong has hung up the hotspot after multiple retry attempts.

I now have it configured (Under MMDVMHost Configuration):

MMDVM Displ;ay Type OLED Port: /dev/ttyUSB0 Nextion Layout G4KLX

And, Configuration/Expert/MMDVMHost/OLED section:

Cast configured to 1.

Any other changed needed?

No, you should put CAST as display driver only (you should edit in configuration > Expert).
BTW, OLED Cast entry is a relic, its support has been dropped from MMDVMHost, as its code has been extracted and used to be the CAST display driver.

Cheers

With comprehension and a bit of experimentation things work so much better.

Thanks for the clarification!

Up and running all day without problems.
