Options for duplex operation with GD77?

Hi, I'm new to this forum, so apologies if this has been asked before. I joined because I'm interested in extending the range of my duplex (N5BOC) hat and this project with the GD77 seems exciting!
Is it possible to achieve duplex mode and enjoy both timeslots with 2 external antennas, each connected to: a) simplex hat for RX and GD77 for TX, or b) 2x GD77s, with a Pi-Zero?
