It seems a bit variable

I noticed sometimes it doesn't charge back to 100%, but sometimes it does.

It's probably too intelligent ;-)
That's a problem I wish I had! ;)

Has anyone had any luck in reducing the EMI problem when charging your battery?

Except for the led's changing colour when fully charged what other benefits does this change have?

Does it charge the battery faster?

Thanks!

On Thingaverse there is a project called 'GD77 Hotspot - Bottom Charger Part Replacement' found at:

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4191354

I guess the bottom part replacement can also be connected into this charger modification discussed in this thread? Just asking to be 100% certain.

Other than that is it really important to replace the standard factory charger?

Yes (I designed this 3D part). If you look at the pictures on the Thingiverse page, you will see the TP5100 board soldered on the tab.

EDIT:
here is the link to the thread

Daniel,

You did a really nice job on the 3D print and mine printed out very well. Thank you for sharing!!!

From the details I have found about your project, I have attempted to determine how the wiring is made on the Pi zero. As you can see from the picture I made I labeled both the originating and terminating points with the same letter. Would you mind telling me if they are correct? On the TP5100 I could not see them too well as they are hidden. Maybe you could tell me what those are as well?

By the way, will this work if I keep the original charging unit in place for the time being?

Thank you,

John

Hi Daniel,

I had a really nice high quality picture to share with You but when I attached it I got an error message that the file was too large. Then I made it smaller and still the same result. After about 10 attempts this was the final version that was accepted. IF you have an email or a way I can message this pic to you I can do that.

Thanks,

John

Hello, I want to mod the chargers of other HT, but I don't know which coil to buy. There are so many models, from 1uH all the way to 10mH. I checked the coil on the MD760 board, but could not find the model information. Thanks!
