DMR TGID length??

Post by cmwang » Thu Apr 16, 2020 1:25 am

I use OpenGD77 on DM-1801 as ultra low cost communication receiver. Some utility communications in Taiwan use 8 digits TGID. But OpenGD77 could specify only 7 digits in VFO mode. Is there any length limit for DMR TGID??

The talkgroup ID is a 24 bit number, which means that technically you could have an 8 digit number (as long as the first digit is 1) but the normative standards on how to use and interpret talkgroups only use 7 digits, reserving some special values for special meanings.

Thanks, the TGID did use 1 as first digit,so it's ok for those talkgroup. BTW,the OpenGD77 does not recognize ARS correctly,it shows ARS as Private Call. It would better to show ARS correctly or just ignore ARS

I dont think any Ham radio TG's use 8 digit numbers, but as they can be set in the CPS, this should be allowable in the manual dial, but we'd need to validate this number in case its outside the 24 bit range.

This version should now allow this.
